peace & plenty- a walk around Deerfield

I wanted to share what I see when I go for walks here at Deerfield.
My beautiful mountains, these are the
3 Sisters.

Mt. Jefferson

in honor of our Mr. Thomas Jefferson

our 3rd president of the United States.

He's here every morning to have coffee with me.

our high desert has many beauties, maybe only in the eye of the beholder,

but the dearest place on earth to me.

if only you could smell the heavy scent of juniper and sagebrush.

one of my favorite roads to walk

~Hay Creek Road~

fat & happy black angus cows awaiting the birth of
fall calves.
nothing sweeter than a newborn black angus calf.
I'm looking forward to seeing them run and play.
I hope you enjoy seeing a little of what I see every day.
If you close your eyes and let the crisp air brush your cheek
you can almost hear the sagebrush whispering
there are many tales in these old hills.

The mountains are beautiful, the pasture full of delights but that Hay Creek Road absoulutely divine! Look at the colours; pale taupe like antique linen, soft buff brown like wellworn leather...I know you see it too that's why it's your favourite.Thankyou for sharing C. Susan

It is lovely to see the Black Angus calves playing here in Vermont too. I thought we had mountains here in the green mountain state, but nothing like Mt. Jefferson - so majestic. Thank you for the beautiful scenes you enjoy every day!

These pictures are amazing. These foot hills around me are beautiful but wow what a view you have dear friend. I saw a new calf just born and momma resting in my neighbors field down the road, just today.
Your Deerfield is lovely Christine.

Smiles,
Becky

Those mountains are something we don't have much of in this fair country called Australia and what a beautiful little slice of countryside you have... and I must admit I so miss having cattle around me... They are just beautiful creatures that make me smile.... Growing up on a tiny dairy farm, feeding calves out of buckets and letting them suck your fingers and hands was just so very special....One of my best friends in the world was my pet cow, snowy she was amazing... Anyway enough of me... Love ya Cathy

Ah, the "Three Sisters"! Haven't thought of them for YEARS--just that one sentence alone brought back so many Oregonian memories...trips to Bend for skiing and snow, so much beauty up there.

Thanks for the memories Christe'!

I've never heard the term, "high desert" before, it describes your part of the world, perfectly. The first thing I remember of my visit to this area, is the scent. It's lovely, as are all those beautiful colors, and the glorious mountains. Thank you for sharing your walk today.

Hello Christine! You surely live in God's Country there in Oregon! =o) A few years back, I bought a wee whimsie snowman ornie from you after seeing an article about you in a magazine..........I'm thinking perhaps it was Victoria maybe? And I so loved it and the way you sent it to me wrappped in cheescloth with a sprig of juniper and a little sachet. I was so in love with it that I sent you a gift of a hand painted snowman pin that I had made. I just had to leave a comment here when I found your blog listed on a friend of mine's blog.

It was nice "meeting" you again. =o)
