summer afternoon

It was a hot afternoon.
The air was still with an occasional bee slowly making his way through the drooping hollyhocks.
It was one of those hot summer afternoons when the grasshoppers stayed hanging from the tall grasses waving in the hot breeze.
Too hot to walk across the grass.
So here we rest, in the cool shade of the porch.
Wouldn't a dip in a nice cool blue pool be the most delicious thing?
...if only we could just get up enough energy to bring the hose over and let it trickle over our hot little furry feet...
ahhh...,now doesn't that sound so nice?
Maybe, when we wake up from our nap, we might get someone to bring the hose over here.
but for now, dreaming about swimming is the closest these three little kittens are going to get.

AWWWW!! Our three little kittens did get their feet wet today, only because they aren't afraid of the hose and the kids sprayed each other drippy this afternoon...

How cute! It is amazing to me how far a cat can stretcht. They seem to double their length.

My 6 kitties do not have a pool to relax and stretch out in but they have positioned themselves on the table smack dab in front of our fan. Their fur is flying and their whiskers are quivering in the breeze and I swear they all have smiles on their little faces.

A beautiful post Christe' and they are darling.
Soon this exhausting heat shall pass and we can resume moving about again.
Those Southern belles on the big wide verandas sipping on mint juleps must have been on to something...
Stay cool my friend.

Hi Christine,

Those 3 little kittens sure have the right idea. Now it seems all they need is a belly rub and a nice cool drink with an umbrella!

Hope you're all staying cool! Back from Arizona now and Oklahoma is just hot and miserable....

I love to look at kitties sleeping--their little bodies look so long all stretched out. Do you think they would like getting wet? I don't think Simon and Soxy do.

They do tug at our heartstrings!!!!

Thank you dear ladyes,

I'm so glad that you all have enjoyed seeing how my little kittens spend a long hot afternoon.

They actually do like to play in the pool when there is a little bit of water, they wade and splash with each other.
They are not your usual cat.

The tiniest one, Tasha, was lying down in about an inch of cool water with an almost smile on her face.

ps.There are 3 more of them sleeping under the porch....if anyone would be interested in a kitten!
