winter morning

There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you....
In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other;
only in the winter, in the country,
can you have longer, quiet stretches
when you can savor belonging to yourself.

Good morning Christe'. I enjoyed seeing your photos of the snow. We have not had any snow all winter! Bill and I were just saying yesterday, "we don't get snow in our area anymore". Of course this had to happen just when we bought a brand new very expensive snow blower a couple of years ago. Seems ever since then, no more snow!

It is like a cocoon, is it not? Where from soon we shall awaken lured by the fragrance of spring blossoms, warm sun and gentle breezes.
Like the lambs in the field and the little birdies in the nest, life will begin anew and we shall be refreshed springing forth from our winter chamber... and awaiting the continuation of the stories from Deerfield Farmhouse.

My grandmother just purchased two fashion dolls, George and Martha Washington, for me to "play" with. They seem to be quite comfortable in their new abode, but both are enjoying a complete make-over right now. General and Laedy Washington asked me to inquire after their friend Mr. Jefferson's state of health. Mrs. Washington was very pleased to hear that Mr. Jefferson was able to converse with nice young ladies, and was grateful to hear of his gallant answer to their young, and somewhat excited reaction to his arrival.

They are waiting very patiently to hear more of his adventures!
